What Was Once Unfinished is Now Finished

The other day I was talking about an unfinished desk and hutch that I had ordered for Ten. After much delay, said items were picked up by me. I spent this past weekend 'finishing' the two pieces. Now they're done. Here they are...before and after.

My legs, back and arms are killing me. Clearly I was contorting into various positions in order to stain the sides and bottoms of these pieces. I have just one thing to say about this...I hereby promise myself that I will never-ever, ever, ever, again purchase unfinished furniture again. Yeah, right.

They're beautiful! They have an unfinished furniture place here that for a few extra bucks will finish it for you.

Renee - Here it costs 3/4 of the price to have them finish it for you.

Great job...I can't wait to see it all set up in Ten's room! And I promise to remind you NOT to take on another job like this...unless it's for me, of course. :~)

Looks great and I am sure 10 appreciates what you have done (yeah sure!!).

We always seem to be putting things together too. I have found that my husband and I do this best as a team, we seem to have a knack for picking up the slack for each others weaknesses. I too wish to never again have to assemble another piece of furniture.

I bet Ten appreciates all your hard work.

Yep, you hurt now, but it really was worth it, it looks awesome, Lynn.

Yes you can buy unfurnished furniture again. In a few years Elle and Ten can finish whatever you get.

Looks good!

P.S. Somehow I missed your post yesterday...I could have sworn I swung by during the day.
Anyway, I just learned my blog has a reading level of genius too!!
Yay us!

I may just post it. I'm proud.

P.P.S. And I have something for you at my place.

If you feel tempted, let us know and we'll stage an intervention.

Joan - You are so kind!

The Moose Buyer - Actually I think he does appreciate it.

Marsha - I find that things go more smoothly if my DH does NOT help.

Patches - He does. I hope. I think. Um yeah...he does.

Michele - Yeah, it was worth it...that's the problem. It looks good and then I forget that I promised that I wouldn't do it again.

Patti - I like how you think. In a few years I just might be ready to give up control and let Elle and Ten finish some furniture for me. (yeah right) As far as you being a genius...I knew you were. I'll head over to your place now.

Meno - Oh goody, an intervention I can hardly wait. Oh wait, that's supposed to be a bad thing...right?
