Car Woes...Updated

Spent 4 hours at the car dealership on Monday, only to find out that they needed to keep my car overnight (you just know that that was expensive!). Needed: service, rear brakes, a new battery and the car had a cracked engine mount in the front, and a collapsed engine mount in the back...which meant that I also needed new shocks. (Oh joy!) Picked up car today (good thing that it was payday!)...Then I had to go to big box store today for 4 new tires, which took 3 1/2 hours. (Everyone and their mother was taking advantage of the store coupons).

Thank goodness, I have a sister who was willing to pick me up and save me from spending too much money at the big box store. Instead, we went to lunch. Thanks Joan;~)

Sorry to hear about your car woes. I have to bring mine for an oil change and I'm sure they will find 5 things that need replacing, even though it's running just fine..

It was my pleasure. And welcome to the Re-tired club. :~)

you are spending it on the car, I am spending it on my teeth. I don't know which is worse. I do know both are very inconvenient.

It kind of makes me nervous to read this because I know I have a new set of tires in my future, Urgh! That was nice of Joan to provide you with a welcome distraction. What'd you have for lunch?

Arm - Cars...they're expensive to own, but where I live...you can't live withont them.

Patti - I hope that they find absolutely nothing wrong with your car.

Joan - Too bad I still have to work. (sigh)

Only Oldest - I'd rather spend it on my car than on my teeth!

Ms. Chica - We both had mushroom salads...and boy were they yummy!

Wow! Sounds like when they took my car in last. DH took it to get the front headlight fixed. $1,200+ later we get it back and then there's a noise...turns out they didn't put the clamps on my new break shoes. *eyeroll*

Ugh...i can relate to the car woes...ours has been in the shop for a week and a half. Today they called and asked if they could keep it another day to make sure they really repared it this time. (They didn't fix the problem the first time and it had to be towed back to them 24 hours later) Ugh!

Oh, there is nothing worse than spending a load of cash on a vehicle... but hopefully it'll be better than before and peace at mind in being safe to drive so that nothing happens such as a blowout on the tires or stranded in the middle of nowhere.
Take care Lynn.

Renee - So far the car is running smoothly...I will keep my fingers crossed that all the clamps were tightened!

Lynanne - Car repairs are bad enough without having to go back to have them fix what they didn't fix in the first place. Hopefully they will fix your car correctly this time.

Michele - As I said to Renee, the car is running very smoothly right now...and no lights 'lit up' on the dashboard to make me worry...plus new tires...I'm ready for a road trip!

3.5 hours at the big box store eh? That's about par for the course. I can't believe how long it can take there. Bugs me big time. Cheaper yes, service... not so much.
