Happy Birthday Twelve, um I Mean Elle

Today is Twelve's, um I mean Elle's, thirteenth birthday. It seems like only yesterday she was born. I wanted to write a profound post talking about her life, so far, and how her presence in my life has changed me for the better, but I seem to be at a loss for words to adequately express all of those thoughts and feelings.

I just know that Elle was a long awaited blessing. Her arrival changed my life in ways that I could have never imagined. Each and every day has been, and continues to be a new adventure. This thing called parenthood is definitely a work in progress, and I hope that Elle appreciates how much I love her.

So Elle, on you thirteenth birthday, know that I love you more than words could ever say. I am so greatful to be your mommy, and I look forward to watching you continue to grow into the woman you will become.

Happy Birthday Elle!

I may not be Elle's mom (only her aunt) but I sure do feel an incredible sense of pride as Elle becomes a teen today. I cannot believe it's been 13 years since that day in the hospital waiting room when I was sick (some things never change) but still sitting there anxiously waiting to hear that my niece was born. Happy Birthday Elle!

Life constantly changes, but nothing reminds like a milestone that hits us between the eyes. Happy Birthday Elle!

Boy time sure went by fast. It seems like only yesterday that I was 13, visiting in N.Y. for the summer and Mom told me she was pregnant with you and now Elle is 13. Overall, motherhood has been good for you and although the next 6 years of her teens may be tough, you will handle them with the strenth and confidence you have always done. What does Elle want for her 13th???? No, a car is not an option!!!!

These responses are from Elle:

Renee - My mom took care of the double post. Thanks.

Aunt Joan - You and Uncle Rick sing beautifully.

Patches - Getting hit between the eyes would hurt. Thanks.

The Moose Buyer - Please can I have a car??? O.K. fine...what about an iTunes card?

Patti - Merci. (My mom told me how to answer in French).

Armalicious - Thanks (my mom wants to know if you're Armalicious, formerly known as ARM?)

Sarge Charlie - Thanks. It'll take a while to get used to being a teenager.

Pam - Thanks, I think.

We're huge Newsboys fans here...although Tobymac is pretty high on the list too. I'm jammin to him right now. LOL!

Hi Lynn,
Congratulations on Elle turning 13 what a lovely post !! You certainly sound like a proud Mum, as most of us are. Enjoy your children, life goes by so quick and before you know it you will be celebrating her 23rd birthday as I will be doing in 3 months time with my little girl.

Take Care - Melinda

Melinda - An almost 23 year old ...yikes!

Deb - She did, thanks.

Sari - It was, and we are not done celebrating quite yet.

Patti - Fine, make me use my rapidly dying brain cells to try to access French, which I haven't used in 1 hundred years.lol

Patti - I forgot all of the French I studied, because here in Southern California, the other language that is spoken is Spanish. Not too many Frenchmen/women here is So. Cal.

Marsha - Elle says thanks.

Lynn, it's not just in Southern California. It's nationwide.

I'd better get off my soapbox...
