Is It That Important?

I was listening to the local radio station this morning, and the D.J. posed this dilemna, which I now pass onto you.

If you were in a hurry to get somewhere, is there some item, that you just couldn't do without, something that you would return home for...even if it would make you late?

For me, the answer would be either my wallet or my cell phone. Although I will admit that one time I accidentally left my cell phone at home, and I didn't return for it, but boy did I feel like I was missing something the whole day.

I've left both behind and returned home for them. Thankfully work is only about 3 miles from home, but I really don't like to drive without my license handy. I can do without the cell phone, but have gone back for it too.

I have left both at home too, but I rarely use the cell, so no biggie.
I know, I'm counter-culture.

I've turned back for the wallet, of course, which has the license in it! (not much cash though)
Money is highly overrated, don't you think?
Hmmmm...there may be a blog idea in there...

I have only turned around to go back home after forgetting 2 different things. One was my license - I had switched purses that weekend and had rearranged things. The second was a check that had to be taken to the bank that day.

Anything else (cell phones, etc.) stay there. I can live.

Egan - Just wait until Anna Elizabeth makes her arrival, then you will not be able to leave the house without a diaper bag filled with: diapers, wipes, changes of clothes, burp rags etc. :~)

Patti - With the use of debit cards nowdays, money is overrated.

Patches - Besides her cell phone, is there anything else that she would return home for?

Deb - Welcome to my blog. I always carry lipbalm with me...what's your favorite kind?

Arm - Welcome back...hope you had a nice trip and that you didn't forget your license in Texas :~)

Labello, I've been using since I was a teenager and only forgot it once. My lips burned for the whole day, since then, I haven't forgotten it again.

I can do without the cell phone. I don't give my number out so the only folks who have it are usually in the car with me at the time.

And I've done w/o the wallet. I haven't been pulled over since 93 and that was for driving in TX with FL plates (trust me, I have a friend from TX who confirmed it. You can come ask me the entire story if you like.)

Now what would I turn around for? Well yesterday I got distracted at the last minute by DD's library books and forgot my grocery bags w/ shopping list. I went back for that because if I shop w/o my list we have a whole cart full of nothing that will make anything to eat.

I have turned around for other similar things too. My brain can only handle so much! When the kid tosses something else at me in the last minute, there is bound to be overload.

You make a great point there about baby stuff. I never thought about how that's going to change things. Yeah.

My little one had some weird food allergies and so we take a snack of pistachios and a water bottle with us everywhere. I would turn around for that because she is no fun when she is hungry and it is hard to find food she can eat on the go. If you are ever hungry I am willing to share.

Meno - When it's code red around here, sometimes I wish that I could 'forget' Twelve. lol

Deb - I've never heard of Labello, but I will check it out.

Renee - My cell phone used to be for a 'select few' ie: the kids schools, my hubby, my sister...now it seems like a lot of people have it and I have to screen the calls. Shopping lists are really important for me as well...unfortunately even with the list, I often buy other stuff. (sigh)

Egan - Trust me on this...after a while, the diaper bag will feel as if it is a part of you:~)

Marsha - I always carry extra water bottles with me, because I can't stand feeling thirsty...when my kids were younger, although they didn't have any food allergies, I always carried snacks around with me...nothing like a hungry/cranky kid to motivate you not to forget the food.

I want a hip diaper bag that daddy can wear and not feel like gomer. I've seen a few nifty ones.

probably only my driver's license. I don't hardly use my cell phone and it's always in the car and we both know I always carry money in my pocket. Well if you don't know it, the kids have figured it out.

Egan - What, no pink diaper bag with lace on it for you?

Only Oldest - Smart kids.
