The Ballad...Part 1

As promised, here is the first ballad that Elle wrote. (Keep in mind that we were , excuse the pun, 'warming up')

Ode To A Cold Room

I wake up in the morning
With icicles in my hair.
I see my breath before me
All I can do is stare.

(Chorus)
Cold room
Turn on the heat
Cold room
Let me warm my feet

I sit up in my bed
My bones begin to ache.
I can't even feel my fingers
I don't know how much more I'll take.

(Chorus)
Cold room
Turn on the heat
Cold room
Let me warm my feet

My clothes are hard and solid
Stuck together with some ice.
I need a hammer and chisel
or some heat sure would be nice.

(chorus)
Cold room
Turn on the heat
Cold room
Let me warm my feet

I walk over to the heater
Flick the switch to on, and then.
My mom says the heaters broken,
and it will be fixed....but when?

(chorus)
Cold room
Turn on the heat
Cold room
Let me warm my feet

FYI... Elle did not turn in this ballad to the teacher. Coming soon...The Ballad...Part 2

Very cute! But I doubt that it is really that cold in her room. ;o)

re: my blog...you're probably right.

while he was in the Narthex I passed him a few times...but there were other people in different parts of the building. And the being alone with him wasn't creapy...it was just how he looked.

Who knew I had such a talented sister and niece?!?!?

sounds like our daughter's room - is it on the north side of the house?

She definitely has a wonderful imagination. I love the picture she paints and that's what is important in ballads, serious or not.

I'll be singing this in her honor...when I sitting with head under the lampshade trying to keep warm.

pretty good. I too like the picture it paints. If you guys need money for heat, please let me know. I don't want Mom to freeze.

Could you please define 'cold' in SoCal?

Renee - You are right, here room isn't THAT cold...but it is colder than any other room in the house.

Jodi - I loved that line too.

Lynanne - She is definitely my daughter.

Joan - Clearly the talent runs in our family:~)

Patti - Yes, her room is on the north side of the house...how does that make a difference?

Michele - I like the picture she paints too...even if it is a bit melodramatic.

Patches - Hanging under a lamp shade will certainly do the trick. I'm sure that if you sing this that Missus Chica will figure out a way to warm you up.

The Moose Buyer - The rest of the house gets warm and toasty...it's just Elle's room that stays cold.

Ralph - It's all relative...but I would say that it gets down to 32 degrees at night. At least that's what I think since there has been frost on my windshield every morning this past week.
