I'm Learning

Tomorrow DH's family is coming over for lunch. A few weeks ago I was totally and completely stressed about their impending visit.

Today I am so beyond tired that I really don't give a damn. If they don't like my run down kitchen, clutter, and flooring that has electrical tape on it to keep it down (we're looking for flooring ideas), then they don't have to come over again:~)

How's that for progress!

Finally...you've come to your senses!!! If they are true "family," they will ignore everything you mentioned and, instead, savor your wonderful food and enjoy being with you, DH, Mom, and the kids.

Good for you.

I'm in total agreement with Joan. I'm sure it will go well and if it doesn't then they can all go away! LOL!

Good progress, hope you enjoy their visit, sorry to hear you are so sorry. I hope you find a way to rest soon. Take care of Lynn first or you are no good to the others. LOL, like I ever follow that advice. sending hugs and good thoughts.

Don't worry about them. It's not the most important thing you have done this week.

One more thing. I must either be true family or just blind because I didn't notice anything wrong with the floor and I sure didn't see any electrical tape. Maybe I was just looking at your's and Joan's faces and now down at the floor.

Clearly you have your priorities in order. Good for you, it takes a while to reach that place.

Either they love you for who you are, or they won't love you no matter what you do.

So, right on!

Lynn,

Thank goodness you have quit worrying about the house. When I go to visit anyone, I go to see the people, not the house. I too am having a terrible time getting my house organized. We have so little storage space.

I am also looking for kitchen floor ideas. Have you heard about the new cork floors. I haven't seen them yet, but they are supposed to be marvelous to look at and easy on the feet and legs.

It will all be fine.
Blessings,
Mary

That is progress, Lynn. Good for you.
We have electrical tape needs on the edge of a carpet in the living room. We just don't have the extra $$ now to replace the darn carpeting. It's pretty ugly.

Like Patches said, you have your priorities in order. Plus it sounds like you wouldn't mind if they don't ever return!

Please post about how the lunch went.

Good for you. It's a hard place to get to, but it's so freeing when you're there. Good Luck and Hugs from another Tired Mama.

Joan - They are definitely not "our kind" of family.

Deb - Thanks

Renee - That reminds me of a saying..."Don't go away mad...just go away".

Marsha - For some reason, I always take care of me last. I really need to stop that...Let's see Sport is now 11 so that's only 7 more years until I can put myself first. sigh

The Moose Buyer - The electrical tape is there...fortunately it coordinated nicely with the carpeting.

Patches - It's taken me a very long time. I'm thinking that being tired has helped.

Meno - Truer words were never spoken.

Mary - I have heard about cork floors (but I've never seen them),and bamboo (which I understand is soft and dents easily) and tile, and wood. Too many choices...that's for sure.

Patti - I may just start a designing trend by using the electrical tape. Maybe I can get some in coordinating colors. lol

Leanne - It is a hard place to get to and you are right, it was very freeing once I was there. Thanks for the hugs.
