She's baaaack! I brought Twelve home Saturday afternoon. There was peace and quiet and harmony in our house for two days. By yesterday afternoon, things were back to normal. sigh.
I can't believe that it is already Tuesday! Had I decided to work summer school, I would have started working yesterday. I am so glad that I'm not working.
We're getting ready to go camping this weekend. (By "we're", I assume that you all know that I really mean that "I" am getting everything ready). Actually, I haven't started yet, but I will just as soon as I finish this post. I need to get the tent, sleeping bags, tarp and various other camping supplies organized and loaded into my van. I need to pack for myself, and supervise Ten and Twelve in their clothing choices. I also need to make a list of the food stuff and other supplies that we still need, and actually go purchase them. It's the usual 'before vacation' type of preparation. Although, I don't remember preparing this much when I was single, and was preparing to go backpacking in Europe for 12 weeks. Oh well, what's a woman to do?
I am an idiot. Yes, that is the confession that I made to Patches owner, Missus Chicca. In my bookmarks (on my computer) I had her address as the one with the date, and couldn't figure out why she hadn't posted...because everytime I went to her bookmark, it kept bringing me back to the one specific dated post... I am not too smart!
Having made that confession, I will head off to check the camping supplies, and make that list. Before I know it, it will be Friday and we'll be off. I'm looking forward to sitting by a river and relaxing (yeah right, there will be 20 people in our group...relaxing...who am I kidding, they'll be no relaxing for me, between setting up camp, meal preparation, hiking/exploring I probably won't get too much relaxing in, but I think that it will be great to just get away.

Sounds like it will be a good time, once you get it all organized, mom!
Oh, you lucky ducky... I would love to go camping but I just can't get time off from work to do so. I am sure that even though there will be many people there, it will still be fun to get out in the fresh air with others and you just need to find some time to relax...
The one and only time I went camping with a group was 1973 in Truro on the Cape. This was the week before I started college. Mostly I remember bottles of Yago Sangria...yuck. However, I did sleep on the beach one night, and did see the sun rise on the Atlantic coast, and it was beautiful...
I was just telling Rick that I think your camping trip sounds like so much fun...except for that packing part!
Oooh! Have fun camping! I have done the same thing with blog URL's - saving just the one post instead of the main blog page. Duh!!
I'm glad you're not doing summer school, too!
camping to me is like going back to the 1800's. This cousin is a real snob. My idea of camping is staying at Motel 6.
Patti - I still haven't started getting stuff together...maybe this morning after I take Ten to camp.
Michele - I am really looking forward to spending time in the 'great outdoors'.
Ralph - 'Yago Sangria' does sound yuck! We'll be near the ocean and while we won't see the sun rise in the east...we will see it set in the west.
Joan - You are such and experienced packer...why don't you come on over and help me.
Arm - I've done it more than once...you'd have think that I'd have learned not to do it again...sigh
Only Oldest - You may not like camping, but I do remember you sleeping in a sleeping bag outside for a Rose Bowl parade;~)
I wanna go camping! But I like to go with my friends. The one just bought a pop-up...which means that if we go to the one campground she'll be on the other side from me. boo! Will have to find another campground.
Maybe I can talk DD's bestest friend's mom into going with us...we could share a campsite. Hummmm brain is ticking.
I need to go through our camping geer and pull out the stuff DD needs to take to GS camp...bugspray etc.
Do you ever wonder what would happen if you just packed for yourself and didn't get anything else ready? When it was time to go, you could just look around and ask things like "Where's the tent?" and "Did anyone bring any food?"
Renee - I think that part of the fun of camping, is being in a tent...of course, not everyone agrees with me. As far as Darly and GS camp...they have something on the market to put on if you get a bug bite...definitely recommend it.
Meno - You crack me up... I know just what would happen...we wouldn't be able to leave until the next day.
Have a great time on your trip. Oh yeah, I also have a little unsolicited advice. Look out for poison ivy (if it grows there), it has a nasty side effect when bears go and sit in the woods. Speaking of sitting, don't forget one of those hand dandy plastic orange shovels for burying the evidence. :~)
Patches - Thanks for the advice...Nothing like having the great outdoors as your litterpan. Fortunately for us, I believe this campground has flush toilets :~)
