Oh boy. Another tag by my sister, Joan. This was a tough one because I had to actually do some research. (I think that she is getting back at me for referring to her as my 'dear old sister'). So here's the story, I am supposed to go over to Wikipedia, type in the month and day of my birth, and then post three events that happened on that date in history, two people who share my birthday and one person who died on that day.
*****Please note that my sister had a Wikipedia logo picture here, but I can't seem to figure out how to upload it ;~( *****
My birthday is November 25 (and no, I am not saying which year)
On this day in history:
1758 - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was founded.
1947 - The Red Scare: The "Hollywood Ten" were blacklisted by Hollywood movie studios.
1963 - President John F. Kennedy was buried.
People who share my birthday:
1712 - Charles-Michel de l'Epee- A French philsopher who developed Signed French. (I went into my chosen field because I wanted to work with Deaf and Hard of Hearing children, and I've studied, not Signed French, but American Sign Language.
1960 - John F. Kennedy, Jr. - American Publisher and son of President John F. Kennedy (Isn't it sad that his father was buried 3 years later on his birthday)
Someone who died on this day:
1968 - Upton Sinclair, American journalist, politician, and writer. (I read his book 'The Jungle' in school)
O.K. so this wasn't as hard to do as I thought it would be...who to tag??? How about Patches, Patti, and Arm. Let's see what happened on your birthdays.

I don't know if DH will even bother to ask them...he really hates confrontation. BIL called DH around that time, but DH didn't want to discuss it with me. I heard part of the conversation on the answering machine, but they were talking about her finances.
I know from what we see of MIL that she is doing very well. We are usually there for most of the day when we visit with her, so I think that we would see something if there were problems. DH & I are mostly worried about if something happens to her friends. Her one very dear friend is pretty sick and we worry how MIL will take it if her friend dies. Her friends & neighbors all have our phone number and know to call if anything comes up...we've been called about the sprinkler system line freezing and blizzard snow removal.
SIL & BIL have backed off since the test results came back normal. And I think that they were baseing their previous opinion on how her previous medication was affecting her...she mentioned that she got lost on the way home once on it, so she stopped driving at night. As far as we know, she doesn't drive at night anymore (she's usually in bed by sundown now) and we do know that her regular doctor took her off that medication (well she had stopped taking it already.)
I don't see why SIL & BIL didn't feel like they could talk to us about it. I don't know all that DH & BIL talked about in the call they had. Perhaps DH said some things in the conversation with BIL that caused him to think we wouldn't be at all helpful and I think that like DH, BIL didn't want to discuss it with me...SIL NEVER calls, she never writes...not because she's not talking to us, because she doesn't want to pay for a long call (she talks a lot!)
OOOKAAAY! I'm it!
Ok, I'll try and do this today!
I didn't know JFK was buried on his son's birthday. That kind of puts a damper on things.
I will work on this today (I'm supposed to be doing real work but...)
I still remember going to Radio City Music Hall for your birthday (won't say which one) on the weekend of JFK's assassination and seeing the shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald on the TVs in the window of NBC at Rockefeller Center.
Okay...your grade is an A for this meme!
Renee - Having gone through this with my mother, you will definitely know when the time comes that your MIL can no longer live alone. I can't imagine having to go through it without my sister.
Patches - I can't wait. You could actually do two... one for you, if you remember your birthday, and one for Missus Chicca.
Arm - I'm looking forward to seeing what you learn. Yeah, as if it wasn't bad enough that John F. Kennedy Jr. dad was assassinated, they had to go and bury him on his son's birthday...
Patti - Balancing work and blogging can certainly be a challenge. I will look forward to your post.
Joan - I remember going to Radio City Music Hall for many of my birthdays, I don't seem to recall seeing the shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald...then again, you are my older sister ;~) LOL
Liar, liar, pants on fire! :~D
This meme is an interesting and effective way to tie us all together.
JFK's assassination was one of my very first memories -- at least the very first "I-remember-where-I-was-when" memories. (This will date me, but I was just about to turn 3 and I remember it vividly, or at least the adults' reactions to it.) And that photograph of John jr. saluting his dad still chokes me up...
Thanks Lynn. That's what I needed to know. I think the only trouble that we are going to face if and when the time comes is that MIL wants to stay here (near FIL's grave) and both SILs want MIL to be with them in their hometown. MIL left hometown because she hates it there and I don't want to see her where she doesn't want to be.
SIL told MIL that she wanted her to move to MI to be with them when things go bad. MIL said NO. SIL said that since she wouldn't know any better that she would just come and take her. MIL said just dig her a hole and burry her as she wouldn't know the difference between that and a nice appartment.
Sorry to be hogging your comments on this stuff. You can smack me if you want.
And re: your past...you'll smack me even harder if I comment about my JFK memories. More specifically my lack of having them for being too young.
Joan - I didn't say that I didn't remember when President Kennedy was shot...I just said that I don't remember watching T.V. when Lee Harvey Oswald was shot...maybe mom was covering my young and impressionable eyes and ears.
Meno - I was going to tag you, but you had just completed part 1 of the ABC meme and said that you were working on part 2. Your mission (Agent Meno)...if you decide to accept will be to complete this meme as well;~)
Pam - JFK's assassination was definitely a turning point for our country. This generation will remember 9/11 in the same way that our generation remembers the Kennedy assassination.
Renee - Count your self fortunate that you don't remember that time. It was profoundly sad, even for a kid.
How exactly does French and American English Sign differ? I'm sure it's pretty dramatic and I'm not sure how you will explain it. I'm fascinated by all languages.
Lynn, I think I am done with my assignment. Let me know if I need to polish it up.
;-)
P.S. I will be leaving to pick up Kid 2 soon and he can tell me why I didn't link you properly.
a big WOOPSIE-DOODLE on my part
Yippee!! I think I figured it out without Kid 2 here.
Egan - French Sign Language and American Sign Language and all of the other sign languages are seperate languages unto themselves...I guess they differ the same way that French and English differ (but I wouldn't swear to it because I never learned French Sign Language).
Patti - It all looks good to me...congrats on figuring it out on your own...
I'm done!!
Arm - What a wonderful job you did...however, now I cannot stop humming 'My Ding a Ling' (Arrrg)
Merci Lynn pour les explications.
Egan - As they say in my neck of the woods, de nada.
