An Open Letter

Dear Cashier At The Grocery Store Today,

I understand that you are unhappy that you had to work on Christmas Day. Evidently getting triple your salary was not enough for you to 'fake' being in the holiday mood. Instead, you decided to spread your Christmas bah humbug to those of us foolish enough to walk through your check out line.

How about next year you do everyone a favor either call in sick, or sign up to be Scrooge in a local play.

A now grouchy customer

I just checked my grocery store's website and YES! they have customer comments online. So if that would have happened to me, I would sooooo report scrooge to them. If you can't do it online, call the store. Who knows, maybe you'll end up talking to scrooge herself and she'll be shocked that someone bothered to turn her in. LOL

Sorry that you had a bad experience. I know that you sure would have rathered to be at home instead of at the store.
I hope that other wise you had a good holiday.

sorry you had a grumpy cashier. I guess sometimes having to work when most people are off can bring out the worst in people. I hope the cashier has New Year's day off!!

sorry you had to deal with that unhappy person - hope it didn't dampen your spirit for the whole day

Turning her in may make you feel better ;-)

You mean somebody was open on Christmas day? Hmm... I couldn't find a darn store open here but then maybe being a small community that wasn't going to happen... but yeh, grouchy people shouldn't be there... I would've just called in sick because I'm sure she knew ahead of time she didn't want to be there in the first place... geeze...
party pooper... lol. :)

We ate lunch at a local waffle-huddle-short-order-cook kind of place, and everyone was in remarkably good cheer. I guess they were where they wanted to be.

I have a SIL, who plays this head game when she has a less than pleasant customer service experience, she always imagines that the person with the attitude problem has been recently cuckolded. WIth that image in mind, she doesn't take the transaction personally, and her day progresses without negatively affecting her mood.

Really, lots of people work on Christmas, you know, Police, Firefighters, EMT personnel, doctors, nurses, pilots and train engineers...all sorts. To the store cashier, it's not like you worked all 24 hours on Christmas, anyhow. Lynn, despite Scrooge, I trust you had a merry Christmas

That bugs me. When I managed a restaurant, I had a theory about moods. No matter how shitty your day, the customer should never know. If things aren't going well on the homefront, take the day off.

Ugh, happy holidays to you Lynn.

Jodi - I guess it's everywhere.

Renee - It is not worth it to me to complain about this woman. I just trust that someday she'll get hers.

The Moose Buyer - Believe me, I will not be going into that store on New Years Day.

Patti - I got over her nastiness. It took me awhile to decide that I shouldn't take it personally.

Michele - We had to drive around for a while but we did finally find the store where Ms. Grumpy was working.

Ms. Chica - After awhile, I realized that the woman was just pissed off that she had to work when all of her friends (if she had any) were off. Can't say I blame her for being grouchy...she just should have kept her grouchyness to herself.

Ralph - Had a lovely Christmas day...despite meeting the Grinch.

Egan - I'm with you. When I am at work (and most of the time even when I am not at work) I try to smile and be cheerful toward others, cause it's not their fault that I'm in a bad mood.

HRH - Welcome to my blog...and I couldn't have said it better.
