Oh I'm so sorry that people are doing that to you. I so totally don't get why folks feel the need to tell you how terrible things went for them or someone they know. I remember my first baby shower (one for a friend of mine) where this poor girl who was about to deliver any day now got to hear all the terrible birth stories of all the veterans there. All of us "mommy virgins" were sitting there with our legs crossed swearing that we would never have sex again...let alone think of getting pregnant!
I hope that your surgery goes very well, that your recovery is swift and they give you plenty of pain killers!
I'm thinking it's because "misery likes company." But don't worry...their misery was during ancient surgical times while yours has the advantage of taking place during the medically-advanced 21st Century.
I guess, they want to say something that relates, but the frequently end up saying something that relates to them. So, yeah, basically they don't think.
they do it to make sure your experience goes flawlessly, and leave you thinking, "What the heck were they complaining about?" :) I'll be sending lots of wishes for an uneventful surgery and recovery
Good news. The surgery is over. Everything went well. Now I'll have good stories to tell people when they tell me that they are having foot surgery : )
Patti - I just don't get it...my mother always said "if you can't say something nice, don't say it at all"...shouldn't that apply to all situations?
Pam - I'm glad it over too!
Lynanne - I working on the healing part...doesn't seem to be happening too swiftly. I guess I don't have any jump up and be completely healed super-powers...sigh.

Some people just don't think. Do they really think they're helping by telling horror stories?
Like Renee said, that happens to a lot to first-time pregnant moms. There is always someone with gruesome details to share!
I hope you're recuperating nicely -- glad it's over!
That's fantastic! I worried when I didn't see a blog post update so I was relieved to see it here. Heal swiftly!
