I have a question...why do some people, even once they're adults, continue to feel that the universe revolves around them? Case in point. At my son's school the "pick up" after school consists of cars working their way through the parking lot until they reach the curb where the children are waiting. The curb itself is at least 12 car lengths long (and I'm talking SUV and van size car lengths).
The "Schools Rules" on this matter are quite simple...you must stay in your car at all times, and you need to pull forward when there is room to do so. This allows the most number of cars to be waiting along the curb at any one time. Two simple rules!!!!! (Now please understand, there are many parking spaces available in the parking lot, if someone wants to wait outside their childs room, or stand and chat with their friends)... so why do so many of these, "The world revolves around me", moms (and yes, it is usually moms) think that they can just sit in their car, or get out of their cars, and leave so much room in front of them that the cars behind them cannot move up in an orderly manner? This frustrates people sitting in the parking lot portion of the line, and many times these people drive past the waiting cars and then move into the open spaces (unlike standing in line, where people are usually not going to "cut in front of you".)...this in turn isn't fair to the people waiting patiently in line, however who can blame them?
I am so fed up with these self-involved, I'm more important than anyone else, selfish, rude, inconsiderate people!!! Can you tell??? And guess what...I don't like them either!

I hear you Lynn. There are a lot of egocentric people out there.
I am usually the opposite -- overly accommodating.
I don't feel like the doormat I used to feel like though.
Some progress has been made!

There is much the same arrangement at my daughter's school. It's one of those situations that makes me wish i owned a bazooka.
Yes, i know that violence is not the answer. But it would sure feel good.
The "it's all about me" philosophy is pervasive throughout society these days. Sadly, many of these parents are passing this behavior on to their children which means we will have yet another generation of selfish, egocentric people.
glad you enjoyed the videos. The book thing just made me laugh too hard.
I totally agree with you on the parking lot situation...although mine is different. We have signs posted and it is written in EVERY newsletter each month that stopping in front of the building is NOT ALLOWED. Does anyone pay any attention? Nope! They all stop there allowing their children to run around in very dangerous traffic as the parking lot is not designed for this kind of traffic.
I'm talking about my DD's gymnastics school. The building used to be a mechanic's garage...but it now holds the gymnastics school, a dance studio and a driving school. It's a mad house.
I dread after school pickup duty for this very reason. I always beg for drop off in the morning duty whenever we set up a carpool because it's so much more civilized.
Patti - I am usually overly accommodating too...but I'm learning not to be.
Meno - Amen to that!
Joan - You can see it in the way the next generation crosses the street and just assume that everyone will stop for them.
Renee - I see kids step/dart out between the cars too often...of course who do they learn it from...right... their self-absorbed egocentric, center of the universe parents who are in such a rush to get to "who knows where"!
Julie Q - These moms are not much better in the morning...they're all in a rush to get to the local coffee house for their morning cup of "venti decaf non-fat latte with a twist...." or they're heading off to their pilates/kickboxing class!
love the new color scheme
you go, girl!
